We are pleased to join forces with ODYSSEV (Optimised DYnamicsof high voltage powertrains: developing Sustainable Systems for Electric Vehicles), a project funded under the same topic as Enlighten! Similarly to Enlighten project, ODYSSEV is paving the way set to accelerate innovation in high-voltage electric vehicle powertrains. Both projects are members of 2Zero partnership!
Launched in January 2026 and running until June 2029, the ODYSSEV project brings together 14 partners from 8 countries, coordinated by – Fundación CIRCE – Centro de Investigación de Recursos y Consumos Energéticos.
As Europe advances towards climate neutrality and zero-emission mobility, the rapid growth in EV adoption continues to highlight key challenges, particularly around driving range, charging speed, efficiency, and cost. ODYSSEV addresses these challenges by developing advanced high-voltage powertrain technologies (1200 V or above) designed to deliver improved performance while reducing system complexity and overall costs.
At the heart of the project is an innovative hybrid inverter concept that combines the strengths of RC-IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs to ensure optimal efficiency under varying load conditions. In parallel, ODYSSEV introduces a reconfigurable battery pack capable of operating at lower voltages (400–800V) during charging and delivering higher voltages (i.e. 1200 V) during driving. The project also focuses on optimising electric motor design to overcome challenges such as partial discharge and current harmonics, while advancing developments in on-board charging, system packaging, and overall powertrain control.
ODYSSEV and Enlighten are closely tied in their effort towards high-voltage electric powertrains! Their synergy started with a common meeting, where both projects confirmed their willingness to engage in joint actions through joint sessions in conferences, as well as supporting each other’s visibility and dissemination activities!
